Pre-Calibrated
Each meter is pre-calibrated by Hanna at the factory.
There is no need for you to calibrate the meter upon receipt.
Although each meter is calibrated at the
factory, factors such as bouncing around during shipping, weather
conditions and sitting in a warehouse prior to shipping can cause
calibration to go out ever so slightly. For the most accurate reading
possible, we recommend that you check the calibration prior to use and
adjust if necessary.
Easy To
Use
Simply push the switch to the ON position. Stick
the tip of the meter into your test sample. The pH will be shown in the
large, easy to read LCD display.
Care &
Maintenance
The tip of the pH electrode needs to be kept wet at all
times when not in use. To keep the tip wet when not in use, Hanna
recommends putting a few drops of a storage solution in the electrode cap.
The supplied 7.01 buffer solution can be used as the storage solution.
Simply put a few drops of the pH 7.01 buffer solution in the electrode cap
and snap the cap on the tip of the electrode. If the tip does dry out,
simply soak it in the 7.01 buffer for a few hours.
Calibration
Your pH meter may need to be re-calibrated from time to
time. The checker1 is calibrated using a 2 point system. The meter is
first calibrated to neutral using the 7.01 buffer solution. It is then
calibrated to EITHER the acidic slope using the 4.01 buffer OR to the
alkaline slope using the 10.01 buffer. If the samples you are testing are
more acidic, calibrate in the 4.01 buffer. If your test samples are more
alkaline then calibrate your meter in the 10.01 buffer. For the most
accurate results, Hanna recommends that you calibrate your meter prior to
each use.
